Nissan’s sweat-sensing vehicle seats to identify dehydrated motorists
According to Loughborough University and the European Hydration Institute, dehydrated drivers are simply as hazardous as drunk ones
Nissan has coordinated with Dutch style studio Droog to develop special seats and steering wheels that find sweat and dehydration in an unusual new development in health and security on the roads. The innovation
is called Soak, and works by changing the seat’s colour if perspiration from the person’s body is high in salt – a free gift indication of dehydration. If the seat turns yellow that indicates the person behind the wheel is dehydrated, but if it alters to dark blue the chauffeur is revitalized. Droog, the design company based in Amsterdam, established the textile that reacts to the sweat on contact and changes colour accordingly. The development is in reaction to a 2015 study performed by the European Hydration Institute and Loughborough University, which found that dehydrated drivers behind the wheel are as error-prone as chauffeurs with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent, which is the present UK drink-drive limitation. Of the back of the brand-new technology, Nissan
is encouraging drivers to drink and drive- beverage water that is. The Nissan-Droog technology was fitted onto a Nissan Juke for presentation purposes, however there are presently no strategies to implement it in roadway cars and trucks. The Soak workout happened to simply reveal the world what Nissan are capable of in terms of innovation and safety technology.Do you want vehicle seats that alter colour when you get a sweat on?
