MSP urges Transport Scotland to take action on AWPR pedestrian safety

Thousands mark completion of major stretch of AWPR with party on roadway

“This element of work falls outwith the scope of the AWPR/B-T job and is for that reason being procured by alternative methods.

“We are presently dealing with the local authority to allow this work to be performed at the earliest chance.

“When the AWPR/B-T is open to traffic, a substantial reduction in traffic volume is anticipated, making regional roads safer and more efficient for pedestrians and bicyclists.

“The number of HGVs utilizing the B979 is expected to decrease substantially.”

Lower Deeside councillor Marie Boulton acknowledged the issues of regional people.She said:”Not having a timescale is not acceptable and I am continuing to go after a date for the work to be finished. “
